OUR PROGRAMS
Building Readers, Families, and Communities

Books in Homes USA creates opportunities for children to discover the joy of reading, families to connect through books, and schools to strengthen literacy culture. Our programs are organized into three Pillars of Literacy, each designed to meet children where they are and grow with them.
Access & Choice
Every child deserves to choose and own books they love.
BookFairs
Our free BookFairs transform schools into vibrant spaces of discovery. Each student browses a wide selection of diverse, high-quality titles and selects two books to take home. This simple but powerful experience ensures that every child—regardless of background—has the chance to build a personal library.

I love our collaborative literacy cohort and the opportunity to share, discuss and expand our thinking about literacy and created an ecosystem literacy rich schools. THANK YOU for making this possible for our school.
Literacy Growth
From access to achievement: building strong readers through layered support.

Building a Culture of Literacy
Access to books is the foundation, but true literacy growth requires more. Our Building a Culture of Literacy program works with a cohort of 14 schools to combine book distribution with classroom libraries, teacher professional development, author visits, and family engagement resources. Funded through the U.S. Department of Education, this model strengthens schools from the inside out and offers a roadmap for lasting literacy achievement.

Family & Community Engagement
When families and communities read together, students thrive.
