Putting Books in Children’s Hands, One Choice at a Time

At Books in Homes USA, we believe that choice is the spark that ignites a love of reading. That’s why our Book Fairs are at the heart of what we do. Partnering with schools across the country, we transform cafeterias and gymnasiums into joyful, book-filled spaces where every child has the chance to explore, discover, and choose.
Unlike traditional fairs, our events are free. Every child selects two books to take home and keep—building their very own library and the confidence that comes with ownership.
How It Works
School Partnership
We work with Title I schools nationwide to host free fairs tailored to the needs and interests of their students.
Student Choice
Children browse a diverse, high-quality selection of books and choose the two that speak to them most.
Lasting Impact
The excitement doesn’t end when the fair is over—these books go home, spark family reading, and grow into a foundation for lifelong literacy.
Getting Involved
Interested in hosting a Book Fair at your school?
-
If your school has a community sponsor or is interested in fundraising (including through our Read-a-Thon program), please contact Executive Director Kate Bowersox. Books in Homes USA will provide fundraising tools, materials, and guidance to help your community raise the support needed to host a Book Fair.
-
If your school would like to share interest in a future Book Fair but does not yet have access to funding, please reach out to us. While we cannot guarantee support without a sponsor connection, hearing from schools helps us identify areas of greatest need and match potential partners when opportunities arise.

Voices from Our Schools
“The book giveaways have made our students excited about reading and sharing what they read with their friends. The students always ask, ‘When are we getting more books?’
