Creative Initiatives that Spark Joy in Literacy

Beyond our core programs, Books in Homes USA develops unique, one-time and thematic initiatives that bring fresh energy to literacy. From community fundraisers to themed book distributions, these projects show that reading connects to every part of life.
StoryWise
Exploring Literacy Through Themes
Books are powerful entry points into a wide array of topics—STEM, sustainability, social-emotional learning, and more. Through StoryWise, Books in Homes creates thematic book distributions that help children connect reading with the world around them.

Coming in 2025: a special distribution focused on the dairy industry, supported by the Dairy Foundation, combining storybooks with real-world themes.

Readers in Action Read-A-Thon
A Fun Way to Fundraise for Books
Our Readers in Action Read-A-Thon is a community-based fundraiser that supports schools and expands access to free books. Students log their reading, families and friends pledge support, and every dollar raised helps put more books into the hands of children – including the participating readers!
StoryStride
A Virtual Pride & Prejudice–Inspired Fundraiser
Literature meets movement in StoryStride, a unique fundraising event inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice. Participants log miles, track progress virtually, and celebrate the connection between fitness, community, and story.
