AUTHOR VISITS
When students meet the creators behind the books they love, literacy comes alive.

In the 2024–2025 school year, Books in Homes USA launched a new initiative: hosting author visits for our partner schools. These events—both virtual and in-person—give children the chance to connect directly with the people who write and illustrate their books.

The result? Inspiration, excitement, and a deeper connection to reading.
How It Works
Reading aloud isn’t just about literacy—it’s about connection.
We provide the books.
Before each visit, Books in Homes ensures that classrooms receive a set of the author’s books.
The author leads the session.
Authors can do a read-aloud, Q&A, or short talk with students.
We capture the moment.
Each visit is documented with photos and quotes, which we’ll share on our website and social channels throughout the academic year.
Expanding in 2025 and Beyond
Author visits are quickly becoming one of the most beloved parts of our program. In the coming school years, we’re excited to:

-
Expand the number of schools hosting author sessions.
-
Connect with more authors and illustrators across genres.
-
Highlight diverse voices that reflect the students we serve.

For Authors & Illustrators
Books in Homes is actively seeking authors and illustrators to join our growing network. Participation is simple, impactful, and deeply rewarding:

-
Lead a 20–30 minute session (virtual or in-person).
-
Inspire students with your story, your art, and your books.
-
Partner with us to put your books directly into classrooms.
“Meeting the author made the book feel real for our students. They’ve never been so excited to talk about reading.”
