Since its founding in 2008, Books in Homes USA has partnered with dozens of schools, social service programs, and other community organizations to provide funding for the purchase of books to provide to their students and children at no cost.

In addition to making funds available towards the purchase of books, BIH is also able to leverage various partnerships to receive deep discounts on the cost of books - stretching funding even further.

If your organization is interested in applying for a grant through our Books for Ownership Program, please complete the form below. Note that we currently have a waitlist for the 2023 - 2024 school year. Submission of this form will ensure you are added to the waitlist. A representative from Books in Homes will reach out within 2 weeks of submission to provide a status update. You can also submit inquiries to Jessica Murphy, General Manager, at jmurphy@booksinhomesusa.org.

Books In Homes USA Partner Requirements and Guidelines

  • Submission of this form serves as confirmation that your location wishes to receive a Books in Homes USA grant to provide free books to your constituency.

  • Grant award funding is not disbursed to partner grant recipient locations.  BIHUSA will provide your organization with the amount of funding available for the purchase of books. BIHUSA will coordinate book orders with the organization and place those orders directly with the vendor.

  • Specific book ordering periods are provided.

  • Partners must reapply each academic year.

  • Any remaining balance will be reallocated to other locations in need/awaiting inclusion into our program.

  • Future awards are not guaranteed and are contingent upon available funding and percentage of need.

  • Book distribution event date(s) and photographs are required for grant acceptance, as these are crucial for social media posts, donor event invitations and recognition.

  • Partners are encouraged to highlight partnership online and follow Books In Homes USA’s social media.

  • Partners may be supported by a specific BIHUSA corporate sponsor or donor. If your location has a sponsor or donor, you will be required to properly recognize them.

  • Partners are encouraged to find additional sponsors and/or fundraise to supplement the grant funds.

  • Locations can opt to utilize Books In Homes USA’s nonprofit discount for the purchase of additional books to augment the grant award’s impact and increase the # of new books received per child.
